Turn Down Princeton With Jonathan Edwards

Would You Turn Down Princeton?

Imagine receiving the following request:

“Good afternoon. You’re the greatest theologian in North America and we’d like to have you come be the president of the Princeton seminary. We want you to train the future pastors of America.”

Now imagine responding to that request:

“No thanks. I have something more important to do.”

Are you interested in what that more important task was?

The Greatest Theologian’s Greatest Work. Unfinished…

Jonathan Edwards is the greatest theologian in American history. And “A History of the Work of Redemption” was his greatest work. The book was to be:

“A body of divinity in an entire new method, being thrown into the form of an history; considering the affair of Christian theology, as the whole of it, in each part, stands in reference to the great work of redemption by Jesus Christ.”
Jonathan Edwards

This was to be an exposition of the grand narrative of Scripture and human history. Edwards thought this book was so important that he delayed his appointment to the presidency of what would become Princeton University in order to work on it.

Unfortunately, Edwards died before the book was completed.

God Had Other Plans

Edwards had already preached a series of sermons outlining the remainder of the work so his friends published the book after his death by combining the writing he already finished with the sermons he preached.

Today the book is in the public domain.

You Can Help Make It Alive For A New Generation

I want to listen to Edwards’ words.

And I want you to be able to do that too.

Reformed Audio, with a history of making substantive theological works available digitally, can make that happen with our help. We formed a campaign at The Point to fund the many hours it will take to record, edit and publish Edward’s masterpiece.

When Reformed Audio completes the recording they will make it available to the public… for free.

1. Help Fund The Project

The production cost stands at $2000. If 400 volunteers can give $5 each for this groundbreaking project we will be able to make this massively important work available to the whole world.

2. Spread the News

Use the share buttons at the end of this post to let everyone in your social networks know that they can be a part of this wonderful work!

How Does The Point Work?

How will your donation work?

Whether you’re asking people to do something or give money, people only contribute if they think it makes a difference. On The Point, all campaigns have a “tipping point” — people pledge to give money or do something, but no one does a thing until the conditions are met to make contributions worthwhile. That way, you can gather all the resources needed to be successful before anyone is asked to take action.
The Point

You will not be charged a cent unless we meet our fundraising goal in pledges.
